At Canine Concierge Corporation, we are committed to maintaining the trust of our donors, volunteers, and partners.
1. OUR STANCE ON DATA SALES
Canine Concierge Corporation does not sell, rent, or trade your name or personal information to third parties for monetary gain. We are a nonprofit organization, and our only goal is to fulfill our mission of providing animal-assisted therapy.
2. WHAT “SELL” OR “SHARE” MEANS UNDER THE LAW
Under certain state laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), the term “sale” is defined broadly. It can include the sharing of personal information (like your IP address or website activity) with third parties (like Google Analytics or social media platforms) to provide us with website insights or to show you relevant updates about our mission.
3. YOUR RIGHT TO OPT-OUT
If you are a resident of Virginia or California, or if you simply wish to limit how your data is used, you have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information.
To exercise this right, please use one of the following methods:
- Email Us: Send an email to k9@canineconciergecorp.org with the subject line “Opt-Out Request.” Please include your name and email address associated with your interactions with us.
- Cookie Preferences: You can also limit data collection by adjusting your browser settings to decline third-party cookies or by using a “Global Privacy Control” (GPC) signal on your browser.
4. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU OPT-OUT?
Once we receive and verify your request, we will:
- Stop sharing your information with third-party partners that might be deemed a “sale” under the law.
- Update our records to ensure your data is not included in any future data-sharing arrangements.
- Continue to provide you with the same level of service and access to our mission without discrimination.
5. EXCEPTIONS
Please note that we may still share your information with our “Service Providers” (such as our secure donation processors or email delivery services) who are contractually obligated to use your data only to perform services for us. This is not considered a sale under the law.

7. VERIFICATION OF REQUESTS
For your security, we may need to verify your identity before processing an opt-out request. Verification may include confirming the email address associated with your prior interactions with us. We will only use this information for verification purposes.
8. AUTHORIZED AGENTS
You may designate an authorized agent to submit an opt-out request on your behalf. If you do so, we may require proof of written authorization and may also verify your identity directly before completing the request.
9. RESPONSE TIMEFRAME
We will acknowledge and process valid opt-out requests as soon as reasonably practicable and no later than the timeframes required by applicable law (generally within 15–45 days depending on jurisdiction).
10. GLOBAL PRIVACY CONTROL (GPC)
Where required by law, we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
11. DATA RETENTION
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill legitimate business purposes, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Opt-out preferences are retained to ensure continued compliance with your request.

We may update this notice from time to time to reflect changes in law or our practices. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
